7 Healthy Foods and Drinks to Have After a Workout

By Ryan Light, Running/Anxiety Coach

Working out is exhausting but healthy. So what can you eat and drink in order to improve your body even further and help it regenerate? There are various food items and drinks that can accomplish many things, and in this article, we will help you find out which food items and drinks are great to have after a workout. If you’re focused on getting fit and strong, or if you’re focused on losing weight, or even if you’re simply working out to keep your strength and health, all of these foods and drinks will help you immensely. So let’s start the list with Eggs!

Eggs

Eggs contain a lot of protein and certain amino acids that help speed up recovery after a workout. Various other food items can change over time, but the egg always stays the same. Even though it doesn’t provide a lot of calories, eggs have all the necessary amino acids that help lower the amount of muscle damage in your body. You can make an omelette and put it on toast and voila! A perfect food combination after a harsh workout!

Sweet potatoes

Sweet potatoes are a great choice because they have a lot of carbohydrates. Unfortunately, proteins aren’t the only thing that gets spent when working out. Muscle glycogen, which is your body’s energy reserve, gets broken down as well. So, if you want to help your body regenerate these reserves, you’ll need food that provides you with carbohydrates which are used to restore the spent glycogen supplies.

Avocado

B vitamins that Avocado offers are highly important in starting your metabolism and keeping it in check. Monounsaturated fat (the good fat) is also another benefit of Avocado which is used in repairing your muscles. Besides Vitamin B, the Avocado also provides you with other vitamins such as Vitamin A and Vitamin E.

Green tea

Green tea is simply amazing. You’ll get an energy boost when you need it, while also receiving the benefits of fat-burning compounds. One of the best characteristics of green tea is that it contains strong antioxidants that help metabolise fat. If you want to switch things up a bit, consider making green tea from Kratom Leaves!

Chocolate shake

What better and tastier drink to take when you’re thirsty than a chocolate shake? Of course, if you do light workouts then water will be fine, but if you’re pushing yourself to the max, chocolate milk or a chocolate shake is your best bet. It also contains proteins and carbohydrates which help restore muscles.

Fruits

This is a no-brainer considering that fruits are packed with Vitamins. However, we recommend eating bananas after a workout as they are high in fructose and carbohydrates that get converted to energy.

Greek yogurt

Last, but not least, we come to Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt is filled with protein, and it’s low in fat and sugar. Everything inside Greek yogurt helps repair your muscles and, for some added benefit and yumminess, add some fruit to it!
