5 Reasons To Make Physical Fitness More of A Priority

By Ryan Light, Running/Anxiety Coach

Even though the social media is awash with pictures of people working out and rocking their fit bodies, statistics still show that not everybody is taking physical fitness seriously. Over 80 percent of the adults don’t meet their recommended aerobic and muscle strengthening workout routines. Making physical fitness more of a priority increases your chances of staying healthy for longer and looking great as you age. Here are the top five reasons that should push you to prioritizing that jog sessions or the hours you spend in the gym.

Better Mood

Working out activates endorphines, the feel good hormones. Improved endorphine levels will make sure you’re a happier person with a positive outlook in life. This is good for your personal, social and workplace relationships. Taking the time to exercise, even just for a short time can really just help make you feel better all around.

Maintain a Healthy Body Weight

The most visible effect of working out is losing fat or cutting weight. This is great if your body mass index is way beyond the ideal. Sometimes, people need to bulk up to avoid being underweight or just prepare their bodies for the aging phase. Strength training will build your muscle mass letting you get a solid and ideal body weight.

Increased Energy Levels

Once you settle into your regular workout routine, your body will get used to the workout intensity and naturally produce more energy to keep you fueled and pumped up. The result is a stronger body and an energized body that is more than ready to take on daily life challenges.

Better Sleep

Research has proven than regular daytime workout might promote restorative sleep stages. It is the body’s natural way of repairing what you used while working out. To get to the restorative sleep stage, you will have to go through the other sleep stages hence giving your body the chance to produce all the regulating hormones and antibodies before using them to repair cells and rid your body of toxins.

Reduces Chances of Getting Heart Disease

Doctors at Corner Home Medical recommend physical fitness as one of the early heart disease prevention measures. A sedentary lifestyle will encourage the constriction of veins and arteries that will in turn lead to high blood pressure. If the high blood pressure doesn’t affect your blood vessels, it will overwork your heart leading to heart failure. Staying active keeps your blood vessels open while keeping the heart strong enough for the challenge.

Working out should never be a by the way. Setting aside solid hours and dedicating yourself to meeting your daily or weekly targets has more benefits that the time you think you are saving by skipping the gym. You can never be too busy for something that will make your life much better by the day.
